Our History
In 1980, Rafael Oreamuno B. bought an air taxi, coinciding with the boom in ecotourism in Costa Rica. At that time, the only way to access the most exuberant national parks was by air, due to the lack of road infrastructure. In 1981, Aranjuez was born, which quickly became a mini hub for transporting tourists from Monteverde to the Corcovado and Tortuguero parks, facilitating access to these impressive natural areas and contributing to the development of tourism in the region.
The Airpark dream that began in 2008, when the vision of transforming the aerodrome into a multifunctional space that would not only serve aviation, but also promote recreational and tourist activities was raised. With the support of the Oreamuno family and their extensive experience in the sector, the project has taken shape, seeking to revitalize the region and create an airpark that benefits the community and visitors. Over the years, work has been done on planning and developing infrastructures that integrate sustainability and modernity, reaffirming the family’s commitment to local growth.
The growth in the supply of luxury homes in the region has coincided with a lack of expansion at state-owned airports, limiting service to corporate aircraft. This situation creates unmet demand among owners of these high-end homes, who seek efficient and convenient access for their travels. The transformation of the Aran Julen airfield into an airpark could offer a solution, providing suitable infrastructure for private and corporate aviation, while supporting local economic development and improving the region’s connectivity.
Why?
We started dreaming about the Airpark in 2008, recognizing the opportunity to transform the aerodrome into more than just a simple runway. We began developing the concept of a private aeropark, focused on providing top-tier service for aviation. Our vision includes creating a modern facility that caters to the specific needs of private and corporate pilots, enhancing the overall aviation experience while supporting local economic growth and tourism.
We developed the Airpark to address the growing demand for private and corporate aviation services, especially as luxury residential offerings increase in the region. With limited capacity and infrastructure at state airports, the Airpark aims to provide a modern, efficient, and convenient facility designed specifically for the needs of pilots and aircraft owners. By enhancing connectivity and supporting local economic growth, the Airpark will create a hub for aviation that benefits both the community and visitors, fostering a sustainable and dynamic environment.
